风能已经引起了极大的兴趣,同时成为了能够替代传统燃料能源的最为成熟的可再生能源。在过去十多年中,风力发电技术发展迅速。自1990年以来,在美国许多地区风力发电装机以每年25%的速度增长,并显示出巨大的增长潜力。根据美国国家可再生能源实验室的数据统计,德州风力发电安装容量在美国处于首位。尽管风力发电具有许多优势,但它在接入电网管理方面是困难的。主要的挑战与风力发电的不可预测性相关。缘于风自身缺乏规律性,故由其所产生的发电出力不断波动,这加剧了电力系统运行和规划的困难。本次讲座主要介绍风力发电的发展、安装、潜在影响以及机遇。

个人简介: Wei-Jen Lee (S’85-M’85-SM’97-F’07) received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C., and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Texas, Arlington, in 1978, 1980, and 1985, respectively, all in Electrical Engineering.
In 1985, he joined the University of Texas at Arlington, where he is currently a professor of the Electrical Engineering Department and the director of the Energy Systems Research Center.
He has been involved in the revision of IEEE Std. 141, 339, 551, 739, and dot 3000 series development. He is the Vice Chair-Technical of the IEEE/IAS, Industrial & Commercial Power Systems Department (ICPSD) and the associate editor of IEEE/IAS and guest editor of IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. He is a member of IEEE/IAS Fellow Evaluation Committee. He is the project manager of IEEE/NFPA Collaboration on Arc Flash Phenomena Research Project.
Prof. Lee has been involved in research on utility deregulation, renewable energy, smart grid, microgrid, arc flash and electrical safety, load forecasting, power quality, distribution automation and demand side management, power systems analysis, online real time equipment diagnostic and prognostic system, and microcomputer based instrument for power systems monitoring, measurement, control, and protection. He has served as the primary investigator (PI) or Co-PI of over ninety funded research projects. He has published more than two hundred and ninety journal papers and conference proceedings. He has provided on-site training courses for power engineers in Panama, China, Taiwan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Singapore. He has refereed numerous technical papers for IEEE, IET, and other professional organizations.
Prof. Lee is a Fellow of IEEE and registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
